Modern interior influenced by beach environment

Sullivan’s Island Beach House

View at Front Entry

The traditional house form at Sullivan’s Island SC, included deep porches and roof overhangs which protected the house interiors from the hot sun and tall windows to accept cooling ocean breezes. These features also allowed for an inviting sense of layering from outside to inside as you approached.  In our just completed house design the required flood elevation required a full flight of steps to the front porch increasing the effect. Roofing is coated metal, siding is cedar shakes and board and batten.
